Dr. Gabriele Niederauer made her mark in the industry as the CEO & President of Bluegrass Vascular Technologies, Inc. (BVT) since September 2014. Her primary focus was to collaborate with the BVT team and successfully bring the groundbreaking Surfacer® System to market. The Surfacer® Inside-Out® Access System represents a paradigm shift in central venous access procedures. Recently, the assets of BVT were acquired by Merit Medical. Driven by her passion for entrepreneurship, Dr. Niederauer has navigated the challenges of both leading a successful medical technology venture and transitioning through significant changes in the industry.

MEET OUR SPEAKER & MODERATOR
Dr. Gabriele Niederauer has more than 25 years of experience in the study, development and commercialization of devices for orthopedic, sports medicine, dental and ENT. Her research has led to over 20 peer-reviewed articles and numerous presentations/abstracts. Dr. Niederauer is also a co-inventor of nine patents and seven applications for devices and methods used in orthopedic surgery, tissue engineering and ENT procedures. Nationally, she has served on the boards of the Society for Biomaterials, the Biomedical Engineering Society and the Orthopedic Research Society. Dr. Niederauer also serves as advisor to several medical start-up companies and is a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. She is an appointed honorary commander of the Air Force 59th Medical Wing’s Honorary Commanders Program, a Trustee of the San Antonio Medical Foundation, and a Trustee of the Southwest Research Institute. She is past Board Chair of the Masters Leadership Program of San Antonio, a founder of The Health Cell, past chair of the UTSA College of Engineering Advisory Board, and serves on the boards of BioBridge Global (Board Chair), San Antonio Medical Foundation (Executive Committee & Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee) and The Health Cell (Founder & Board Director).
Lara August is the Founder and CEO of Robot Creative. She is a marketing and branding expert with more than 25 years of experience. Lara’s achievements have earned her recognition as “Innovator” from the National Association of Women Business Owners, Young Entrepreneur of the Year from the SBA, an Outstanding New Business Leader by the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and one of San Antonio’s “40 under 40.” Not to mention the hundreds of awards the company has received for their client work. Lara is a passionate supporter of the community and the arts in particular. She has served on several boards including the San Antonio Philharmonic, Luminaria and the Children’s Chorus, the Southtown Mainstreet Alliance and the North Chamber. Lara has been involved in the start up community for more than 15 years as an angel investor, advisory board member. She has lent her expertise as a speaker and mentor for several incubator programs including TechStars, the Trinity University VMS and Halliburton Labs, to name a few.
